Statewide General Wastewater Discharge Regulations
November 2, 2007 was the first deadline under the State Water Resources Control Board’s General Wastewater Discharge Requirements (GWDR) for all publicly owned or operated sanitary sewer systems in California consisting of more than one mile of sewer line.
Agencies and Cities impacted by the GWDR will need to develop a Sewer System Management Plan (SSMP) prior to the deadline dates.
The SSMP represents enforceable guidelines, as well as providing your Agency or City with a roadmap for an effective asset management plan.
To assist in the efficiency of developing SSMPs, Wallace Group implemented a Gap Analysis method. The Gap Analysis is a series of questions designed determine the total work required, time allocation and total program. The goal of the SSMP Gap Analysis is to identify the gaps and to assess the readiness of each agency or district in developing their SSMPs.
The Gap Analysis Allows us to:
- Determine an agency’s strengths and weaknesses.
- Discover variances between State requirements and agency capabilities.
- Provide specific program costs.
- Reduce program overlap.
- Meet and exceed program schedules.
(Click here for SSMP Deadline Dates).
A Gap Analysis helps identify gaps between current practices and Statewide GWDR requirements. Wallace Group can assist with:
- Developing An Executable Work Plan
- Gaining GWDR Compliance
- Identifying Funding Opportunities
- CIWQS SSO Electronic Reporting
- Identify Long-range Benefits
- Asset Management Planning
- Developing FOG Control Programs
- FOG Inspections
