Cal Poly Engineering Students Compete April 15th, 2019

The Society of Civil Engineering Students at Cal Poly SLO hosted 17 colleges on campus for the Pacific Southwest Regional Conference last weekend.  This engineering conference included 19 different engineering and non-engineering events, including the concrete canoe, which was held out at Lake Nacimiento.  Wallace Group is a proud supporter of SCE and Cal Poly and was excited to assist the Cal Poly Planning Team in whatever capacity needed. Principal Engineer, Steve Tanaka assisted the Cal Poly Planning Team with their emergency response planning for the concrete canoe race at Lake Nacimiento, while engineers Sarah Huffman and Wyatt Banker-Hix judged the Transportation Project and Principal, Kari Wagner judged the Environmental Project.  Sarah and Wyatt also represented ASCE at the Concrete Canoe races on Friday answering questions and promoting the students involvement in the national organization.  It was exciting to see the students not only plan the entire event, but to also compete in each of the events at a high level. Cal Poly SLO took first place overall, while UCLA finished second and Cal State Fullerton finished in third.
