Irish Hills Plaza December 7th, 2012

San Luis Obispo, CA – Irish Hills Plaza is a large commercial development on the south side of San Luis Obispo that accommodates a collection of large popular retail stores site development. The project required a highly efficient storm water drainage system along with general site engineering. Wallace Group was engaged to design a technologically advanced drainage system capable of providing flood control and maintaining water quality on the 30-acre site.

The technologically advanced system features a large bio-detention basin with an associated forebay. Both basins utilize biological filters, such as the roots of natural vegetation, to remove water contaminants from building and parking lot runoff. The detention basin is approximately five acres in size and contains a number of sub-drains designed to filter water into an adjacent wetland. The two-acre forebay is a retention basin designed to treat the common lower flows.

Wallace Group also provided topographic boundary surveying, all construction staking, and general civil engineering for grading, parking lot improvements, erosion control, and utilities. Wallace Group designed all off-site improvements including median reconstruction along Los Osos Valley Road and a pedestrian path linking a car lot across the street to the project. Our company also provided schematic design for review by the City of San Luis Obispo Architecture Review Committee.
